In this guide we will be using Chainfires CF-Auto-Root.
1. Check if your Note 3 is affected by the Multitouch Problem
Please check if your device is affected here [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472084], this issue should mostly be fixed by Samsung by now, but I recommend checking it. If your device is affected, stop right here and don’t root, you will have to use your warranty, which will be lost by rooting.
2. Download CF-Autoroot
Download CF-Autoroot for your device from http://download.chainfire.eu/355/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlteskt-hlteskt-smn900s.zip.
3. Unzip it
3.1 Unzip the CF-Auto-Root-….zip
If you end up with a recovery.img and cache.img file, you’ve extracted twice. You need to end up with a .tar.md5 file.
4. Make sure Kies is not running
It is very important that all processes of Kies are stopped.
Disconnect your phone from your computer
Click the PDA button, and select CF-Auto-Root-….tar.md5
Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot – if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
(USB) Connect the phone to your computer
Make sure Repartition is NOT checked, this is really important, as this may break you device.
Wait for Android to boot
NOTE: Sometimes the device won’t boot into recovery and root your device. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still won’t root, make sure that Auto Reboot is unchecked in Odin. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery mode manually. This will start the install process.
